I thought it might be an idea to explain the costing process used to come up with the prices of the items I sell.
Firstly, I don’t sell copies of original items as there is no point as many of these are still available on various websites, plus the licencing fees would cost a fortune. Instead I make custom or bespoke parts to either enhance a figure or modify an existing part, for example modifying a mount for a machine gun so it will fit better on a vehicle.
Making mechanical, structural or hard surface items is generally done by modelling using a CAD type program. It’s a fairly straight forward process and therefore quite quick depending on the complexity of the item… so most of these can be fairly cheep to make..
Organic items, figures, heads anything living is done by sculpting, this is a much more drawn out process and is done using digital sculpting software… It can take many hours to sculpt an item, again depending on the complexity or detail, so for that reason can be much more expensive..
When working out the cost of a custom part, I have to consider the following, the running costs, maintenance etc of the 3d printers, the time to make the printer file and of course the cost of the plastic being used. I endeavour to be as fair as possible with my pricing and will always give you a quote before beginning any work for you.
